AI Visibility Content Strategy

The plan for content the AI engines cite: what to publish, where, and in what order, built from the questions your buyers ask AI engines and the gaps where the answers leave you out.

What an AI Visibility Content Strategy is

Content Strategy is the plan that comes before the writing. It answers one question: of everything you could publish, what will earn your business a place in the answers the AI engines give?

Most content plans start from a keyword list or a topic brainstorm. This one starts from prompt research: the real questions buyers ask ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude about your category, and a scored read of where those answers cite competitors and where they leave a gap. The strategy is built around the gaps that matter, so every piece you produce is aimed at a question that has buyers behind it and an answer you can win.

The strategy builds on a completed diagnostic. An AI Visibility Audit or Intelligence engagement produces that research, captured and scored across the engines, and Content Strategy turns it into the plan. We do not build a strategy without it, because a plan built on guessed questions would put the results at risk. If you have not had a diagnostic, that is where to start. The research is run once, in the diagnostic, and it feeds everything that follows.

The deliverable is a workbook of production-ready briefs: the premise your content reinforces, the pillars it is organized around, a map of every prompt to the asset and channel that answers it, and a calendar that sequences it. Your team can execute the workbook, or it can flow into Content Development, where we produce it.

What you get

The deliverable is a strategy workbook, built to be executed. It holds five things.

  • Prompt research, scored. The questions your buyers ask the AI engines, with a read on which brands and sources each answer cites and where citation is thin, carried forward from your Audit or Intelligence engagement. This is the evidence the strategy is built on, not a guess at what might rank.
  • A premise. The single thesis every piece of content reinforces, so the program builds authority that compounds rather than a scatter of unrelated posts.
  • A pillar map. Four or five content pillars, each owning a stage of the buyer’s journey and a share of the output, with the cluster topics that live inside each one.
  • A content map. Every high-opportunity prompt mapped to the asset that answers it and the angle it takes on each channel, so one idea travels from a pillar page to LinkedIn to your Google Business Profile without reading as the same sentence four times.
  • An editorial calendar. A publish-ready sequence: what goes out, on which day, on which channel, and how each piece connects to the one before it.

How an engagement runs

The engagement opens with a short intake: your point of view, and anything that has changed since your diagnostic, from the page list to the competitors worth watching. The diagnostic supplies most of what the strategy needs; the intake confirms it is still current.

From there the work runs in a defined sequence, beginning from the scored research your diagnostic produced. We name the premise the content will reinforce. We design the pillars and build the content map. And we sequence it into a calendar.

Every step produces a piece of the workbook, and the workbook is what you receive. Claude does the analysis and the drafting; the review, the judgment, and the sign-off stay with a person, which is what keeps a research-heavy process producing a plan you can stand behind.

What shapes the scope

An engagement is scoped to the work rather than sold as a fixed package. Three things set its size.

  • How much of the research the plan covers. A broader strategy works across more of your category’s topics; a focused one goes deep on a few high-intent questions.
  • The complexity of your vertical. Some categories have a dense, well-covered answer landscape; others are thin, which changes how much analysis it takes to find the winnable gaps.
  • How far the briefs extend. A pillars-only strategy covers your core content; an extended one adds service pages and LinkedIn assets.
  • The scope drivers are named in the proposal, so you know what the engagement covers before it begins.

Where the AI Visibility Content Strategy leads

The workbook is yours to act on, and this is where the path forks. Your own team can take it and produce the content, and the engagement ends here, with the plan in hand. Or it can flow into AI Visibility Content Development, where we produce the whole program against the briefs, from the voice profile through the pages, the posts, the articles, and the graphics. The workbook is written to be executed either way, so nothing is lost between the plan and the page.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from a regular content plan?

A regular content plan usually starts from keywords or a topic list. This one starts from prompt research: the real questions your buyers ask AI engines, scored by where the answers cite competitors and where they leave a gap. The plan is built around winnable gaps, and it is organized for how AI engines find and cite content, not only for how a page ranks.

What is prompt research?

It is the collection and scoring of the real questions buyers ask AI engines about your category. For each question, we read which businesses and sources the engines cite, and we score the opportunity highest where the question matters to buyers and the citation is thin. It is produced during an Audit or Intelligence engagement, and Content Strategy builds the plan on it rather than repeating it.

Do I need an Audit or Intelligence first?

Yes, and it needs to be ours. Content Strategy builds on the scored prompt research a diagnostic produces, so the plan is grounded in what the engines say today rather than in guessed questions. You are not paying for the research twice: the engagement moves directly to the premise, the pillars, and the map. If you have not had a diagnostic, that is where to start.

Do I have to use Telstar to produce the content?

No. The workbook is a complete, production-ready plan, and it is yours to keep. Your own team can execute it, or it can flow into Content Development, where we produce it. The strategy stands on its own either way.

How long does it take?

It depends on the scope, mainly how much of the research the plan covers and how complex your vertical is. The proposal names the timeline before the engagement begins.

Which AI engines does it account for?

The major engines your buyers use: ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude (if the diagnostic was Intelligence). The prompt research reads how each one answers the questions that matter in your category.

What do you need from me to start?

A completed Audit or Intelligence engagement, plus a short intake: your point of view or methodology, and anything that has changed since the diagnostic. The research is already in hand, so the engagement starts from evidence rather than a blank page.

Plan content the engines cite.

About the Practice

Telstar Consulting is an independent AI Visibility practice based in Connecticut. It helps businesses show up accurately and often when buyers ask AI engines for recommendations, with SEO as the foundation. That matters because more buyers now begin inside AI engines than on search results pages, and a business the engines don’t name doesn’t make the shortlist.
